Thank you for bringing more good & high quality programmes for us. I have 3 radios around my place. #1 in bedroom; #1 in living room &# 1 small one when I travel around.
Keep up the GOOD WORK. Many more audience & radio selling to come !!!

Thanks for the your recommendation on OrbitDownloader. I’ve also checked out a lot of reviews of this utility and this one seems to be “clean". However, while using it, my Norton Internet Security just arrested the site’s attempt to try to access my system. I think, as a rule of thumb, we should install some kind of Internet Security suite (e.g. Top pick: Trendmicro.com for its price/performance if you don’t have your hands on one for free yet) before using this kind of download managers, regardless of what the host website claims and what the reviews say.

Vincent – Don McLean
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land.
昨夜天氣非常寒冷, 唔可以出去看星星, 只有聽你播 Vincent, 我地等春天再做.
By: 加拿大華人 on 三月 4, 2008 at 11:44 上午
Hey, got an idea! During the summer one Friday, Bong can invite some audience to the office during the show, then we listen to Bong’s songs, look at the stars at the parking lot, drink some wine, munch on some French baguette, of course, the audience will bring our own wine and baguette and we’ll share! Anyone interested?
By: No Longer 1540 Fan on 三月 4, 2008 at 11:52 上午
In deep contrast with the poetic lyrics and mesmerizing tune, the song Vincent by Don McLean portrays the sad life of Vincent Van Gogh, the famed artist who shot himself to death at the trough of his deepening depression, and his painting “The Starry Night":
“He has been the subject or inspiration for a number of classical and popular musical works, including the Don McLean’s 1971 ballad ‘Vincent’, also known by its opening words, ‘Starry Starry Night,’ which refer to the painting The Starry Night."
Moral of the Song “Vincent": DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY!
Have you tried using a program like Orbit Download manager or Download Accelerator Plus to pull in the first two wma files from the links I provided above? I don’t think the last two are referenced correctly? Remember, install Internet Security Suite before using any of these download managers.

I don’t think I could squeeze 7-MB files to the outboxes of my mail servers at various addresses I have (four files total to more than 28 MB). If you have an FTP site (say, from Bell or Rogers), I can try to log in as an anonymous user and dump these files there. Otherwise, you may try to grab a copy of Download Accelerator Plus (instead of Orbit Download manager ) and see if you have better luck with DAP:
In the mean time, see if you can ask Rogers or Bell to help you set up the FTP account (no need to pay them, everyone’s FTP 15-MB online storage is included in your monthly high-speed Internet package) and we’ll take it from there. Hope I can arrive home right before 邦邦’s spectacular show starts tonight.
Scott, beam me back home now…

Yes, 邦邦, this 雪暴 is brutal. If you have a snowmobile at home, it’s not a bad idea to roll it out of your garage and use it to commute to work tomorrow…but with a sedan, try using engine stopping, i.e. avoid hitting the brakes as much as possible.
And, of course, stay awake and stay alert on your way home! Anyway, good luck driving home and…
Hear you tomorrow!

Sorry, my mistake. Thought you meant you couldn’t download the first two files. Yes, Like Stephen said, the last two files (from March 4 midnight to 1:00 a.m.) probably don’t even exist because CCB might not have them on their server.
BTW, I just tested my gmail account and I could manage to send a 7 MB (I think up to 10 MB) attachment. If you still can’t download the first two wma files, let me know and I can send them to you. Also, if anyone’s MP3 player can’t play wma files, you may use programs like MediaMonkey to convert wma files to mp3 format.

For those fans who need coffee for listening to 《不眠的星夜》, check out the following:
Hahaha! I think Bong is too young to give any advise to the c9 or ah suk… Let’s keep it as a pure music program, no phone in. BUT, I do like the idea of song request, perhaps set up an email address so we can request songs, perhaps with a simple message, like, happy birthday, thinking about you etc.
Bong, the program is excellent, unfortunately I still cannot last past twelve… I do sleep better with the beautiful songs to keep me company, thanks!

i know you are different.
By: bong loyalist on 三月 6, 2008 at 8:02 上午
I tried listening to Bong’s program from the archive. The first part (first half hour) of every night was OK. But I could not listen to the remaining 3 parts for the past 3 nights. I was able to listen to all other programs in the archive.
Yes, I think Joe, Bong, and Maggie 三人組 has become 台柱. The 三人組 has definitely invigorated the business prospect of this otherwise dull radio station that, I supposed, only 老華喬 had an interest in.
Way to go, trio, and so glad we still have another choice besides the monopolized 1430+1540!
BTW, I was scanning AM radio stations one day and it stopped at 1540. I paused there for about a minute there and noticed right away the change in style of the DJ’s there. Somehow the pro-communist management again has sucked every bit of live and creativity out of these DJs again, making it another zombie radio station that I’d rather listen to its English counterparts now.
By: 獨孤求丙 on 三月 6, 2008 at 1:46 下午
Sorry, typos: I paused there for about a minute and noticed right away the change in style of the DJ’s. Somehow the pro-communist management, once again, has managed to suck every bit of the lives and creativity out of the “surviving" (“surviving" is an overstatement because this word only applies to their physical being, not their souls for sure) DJ’s.

Cost Saving:- I would suggest we buy the radio from CCB (716, Gordon Baker Rd.) as the price is $45.00 (Tax included).
If we buy the radio from Broadcast Drive, the price is $45.00 PLUS TAX.

If we buy the radio from Broadcast Drive, the price is $45.00 PLUS TAX.
That’s an interesting point there.
I purchased mine at a chinese bookstore down at chinatown (Gerrard St.) and the same radio was $45 (Tax INCLUDED!!!).
Why would Broadcast Drive be charging tax on the radio when CCB’s own ads says the “larger" radio only cost $45?
By: A Listener on 三月 6, 2008 at 9:29 下午
I bought my small version of CCB radio 3 weeks back. At first it was only for supporting 3 Monkeys, but now I started to turn it on when i’m making breakfast in the morning. I like listening to their news program and HK news rather than watching the Chinese news re-run from last night on FC TV.
Glad to know that they are on Ming Pao! I hope more people would know 3 Monkeys are now on CCB and switch it over!

Those who like oldies, try to listen to Siu Leung’s program, 3 – 4.

When you buy fast food combo, your could ask for salad instead of fries. Maybe need to be pay little bit extra but better than eat fries.
By: ww on 三月 11, 2008 at 8:50 上午
Although Mendy’s (turn the “M" upside down) burgers taste even worse than homemade, they don’t charge extra for substituting fries with either garden or ceasar salad. 漢堡王’s Wednesday $3.99 “whoppa" combo is an excellent deal because they also have mercy letting customers do the same so they can probably drive the heart surgeons out of business, especially considering that they have the most transfat content in their food, according to a recent study.

Help! Anybody knows the name of the Japanese song last night at about 11:45? Too bad, Bong didn’t tell us the name of the song and the singer. It sounds so familiar but I forget the name and the singer of it. The one that we hear in Bong’s program is not the original singer. It reminds me of those Japanese idols, like Akina, Seiko in the 80’s!
By: Japanese Song on 三月 13, 2008 at 11:27 上午
Bong, a suggestion. Instead of oldies, can we balance the songs with some new music, eg. interesting local folk songs from china/taiwan, other lovely japanese, spanish, french music, light classical, or music you find in bookstores. Surprise us with your find, and expand our music taste! Thanks!

Never really like her, but just ‘eight gwa’. Anyone still listen to them, did they make any announcement last Friday? Wow, one down, who is next?
According to my mother in law, Siu Lai said that she get job at a big company, Ah Cow took a week off at the same time, 3 DJs will take bus tour on Good Friday. Internal Affairs?

A1 news headline Vs Power Politics
Although I do not listen to A1 for considerable time, I tune in to-day at 6.00 pm – 7.00 pm as I am interested to monitor how many commercials they have and compare with Power Politics. Here is my finding.
6.00-6.30 pm ——7 commercials (New World Insurance, Peter Kwan (realty), Markham Subaru (2 times), Tong Hoi Tong (cake), Hoi Tong Restaurant, Roadsport Honda.
6.30-7.00 pm —— 8 commercials (Markham Subaru (3 times), Chevalier, Wong Chi Koo, Hoi Lung Soon (restaurant), Fuji optical, East Asia Tour.
According to my record, there were about 35-40 commercials for Power Politics on Thursday in general. Based on the above data, the following readily comes to mind.
1. Power Politics attracks far more commercials than A1 news headline.
2. A1 has broadcast exactly two months. There are not much improvement when compare with 2 months ago.
3. Lack of attractive programmes resulting in little commercials.
4. Erosion of audience continues.
5. The current programmes may be a failure.
6. Re-arrangement of their programmes appears to be a must in the near future.
I will conduct a similar exercise again end April 2008.

I don’t quite agree.
It really depends on what Dr. So said and will be saying. If his standpoint remains open, unrestricted and is against anything unjust coming from the communist China and its supporters, I would still support him. If he appears on A1 regularly, I might start tuning in to his program and ONLY that program.
Although I would really doubt it, if A1 starts broadcasting a lot of opposing opinions that communist China does not like to hear, especially those hosted by a program by 家豪, A1 would have my vote!

just found this line from Jane: 剛去完櫻花旅行團的團友有很多怨氣 .酒店,食物及時間安排都非常差.
Please ask all your friends & relatives and whoever you know, don’t join those radio tours any more…
A1 DJ’ve no money and they run tours to subsidize their income. So don’t expect there’s any good hotel/food or so. They’ll only give you the cheapest in order to make money for their living.
It’s not the same tours as they used to have in First Radio.
Many audience here have already mentioned since the takeover (or killing First Radio), 1430 took most of the RB commercial remote businesses back. That’s key purpose of cheapy fairchild on the incident. So I’m just wondering whether ah Cow can still keep his Benz or it’s already sold!?! But I don’t care.
Now I only care the 3 monkeys. Keep up with the good work. I’m your forever audience although I don’t have time to phone-in.

Any problem on CCB internet? I can’t call it up since yesterday evening.

「wondering whether ah Cow can still keep his Benz or it’s already sold!?!」
The following is the transliterated and metamorphic version:
The Ben屎 has already taken a hike with the former 1540, all that’s left is this hollow shell we call: A瘟
My Ben屎 won’t be coming back anymore, there is only these stagnant white clouds left behind from my Ben屎’s exhaust pipes
Looking at A瘟’s financial statement is almost like looking at water flowing down the drain, the weeds growing at the front door of A瘟 building make me swear like a parrot
The sunset reminds me of finding my way back to Nobody’s latest endeavour/experiment, but the smoke between me and Nobody makes me worry now…

Hi, # 3 monkeys I really like your programme very much. It increase our knowledge & help us educated too. Maggie’s news is very update. It all seemed you guys have put in alot of work in this 2- hrs. show. Joe you have a special outstanding voice . Pong, I like your midnight programme. Good songs & your stories & sweet & short. Very meaningful.
Looking back at A1 radio, from 2:00 pm onwards they are all trash. Wasting time !!! The male DJ never seemed to prepare his work for the job ! I guess he just kiss ass of Leslie Yip !!
What a shoeshine low life !!
Once again, I tuned to A1 last night, (Thursday 24, April, 2008) @ 6.00-7.00 pm just to conduct my exercise. Here is my finding.
6.00-6.30 pm 5 Commercials
(Wing Yip health chair (2 times), Markham Honda, Tung Tung egg roll (2 times).
6.30-7.00 pm 6 Commercials
(Wing Yip health chair (2 times), Markham Honda (2 times), North York Chevrolet, Interchange Financial.
1. Much to my surprise, the number of commercials is even less than one month ago (pls refer my posting of Thursday, 20 March 2008 in this blog which showed that there were 15 commercials last month. O God. What has happened to A1.
2. Few commercials reflect little audience.
3. Mak Chi Wah did not show up. It is not known whether she has gone before the programme vanished this Friday.
4. A1 News Headline is totally a failure when compared with Power Politics. As a result, it only last for three months and it becomes the first one to abandon in A1 history.
With Mary Young joining, there may be some changes between 6.00-7.00 pm next week. I doubt whether she is able to regain audience/commercials on the following grounds.
a) A1 programmes are generally known as low quality and unattractive.
b) The great success of Power Politics gives one the impression that no other programme of similar kind can compare.
c) Considerable audience switched to the Three Monkeys.
d) Considerable audience switched to Yuk Man’s My Radio.
e) Self-censorship restricts her in developing her skills.
f) Lack of resources
g) As time is limited (half time Cantonese and half time Mandarin), issues under discussion can only be touched and go.
With A1 News Headline almost comes to an end, my monthly exercise is now over. We all long remember Simon and Dr. So’s POWER POLITICS. Let’s wait and see how Mary Young fights this losing battle. Hopefully, I will conduct a similar exercise again in three months time, i.e. end July 2008.
DJs don’t speak perfect 國語? no problem. Most 國語人 won’t listen to these refugee DJs to speak 國語. As long as DJs have good relationship with the commercial sponsers, DJs can jump boat to work for them. 鹹哥 is a good example. He is now 賣水. Not an issue for DJs, they just need paycheques, they are not well prepared for daily programs. No heart, low quality programs! Sooner or later, all Chinese media will be taken over by 新勢力. In some cases, some DJs accept the fate and help accelerating this to happen sooner.

I do not think the management will allow their DJs to speak Cantonese style Mandarin. It would be an embarrassment. All DJs will be replaced.

All A瘟 dj will be replaced by those new 國語 dj from 廢柴 with no pay or low pay.

By: 多倫多聽眾 on 四月 28, 2008 at 9:30 下午
A1 Headlines (6 – 7 pm) – DJs are Ms. Mak, Mr. Wood, and Mr. Ku
Even the title of the program has not been changed. This is not professional and is unfair to Ms. Yeung after two days.
What has happened?

*Maggie, welcome back. Miss U. Glad to hear that the two big brothers : Joe & Pong are so caring for you. For A1 radio, their programmes from 2:00-7:00pm are only trash !!! Leslie & Anson’s who take up so much time is totally not fair. But I guess nobody want to work for them anyway.
*Robertson, good job for the count .
*CCB’s management pls pls pls repeat the :
" #3 monkeys " & " Mid-night Owl " programmes anytime after 1:00 am , the Pong’s show !!!
* Again, music from Friday’s mid-night to Sat. morning is boring . To me these music is just repeating weeks after weeks. I rather they replay those programes:Mon.- Fri. 10:00-12:00 pm. More educational & interesting . I really mean it !!!

I turn from A1 to CCB after @200pm. I don’t like A1 Djs specially at @200pm onwards … .. mostly talked about trips over here & there !!! Boring & who has that much money & time to travel ? Pls talk something like : Joe, Pong & Maggie’s programme things about our daily lives , news, something educational . I like the audience phone-in about where we can have good food with reasonable price in Toronto. Good restaurants & good services etc. As you know most people like to eat !!!! 🙂
By the way, anybody – brothers & sisters know any link on internet that we can catch up with
#3 monkeys payback programmes ? Pls kindly share those info.
On April 30, 2008, Torstar, mother company of Toronto Star and Sing Tao Media, reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31. 2008 (pls refer Torstar.ca for full coverage). One of the highlights is as follows:-
“Torstar reported a net LOSS of $3.5 million ($0.04 per share) compared with net income of $15.7 million ($0.20 per share) in 2007. Net income before restructing provisions was $10.3 million ($0.13 per share)."
In view of this poor result of their mother company, I am of the view that:-
1. As Torstar is in the red for the first quarter, it is almost certain that A1 will only contract and not expand in the near future.
2. Restructing has already taken place in Toronto Star. To cope with this policy, restructing is mostly likely to take place in A1 as well.
CCB- # 3 monkeys : your programme are really good !!! I sincerely hope CCB will repeat the pogramme at night time. Especially for those offices’ workers work 9-5. When arrive home
at 7 the show is then finished.
Pong, your stories are nice – short & with deep touching meanings.
Joe, thank you for those useful & info.
Maggie, take care . Like your ent. news
Keep up the GOOD WORK !!!
CCB Thank You for hand-pick those DJs who work with their hearts !

You can go the CCB website and listen to 節目重溫 of 3 Monkeys and of Pong Pong.
By: mpe on 五月 31, 2008 at 5:02 下午
I apologize for the incorrect grammar:
It should read:
You can go to the CCB website and listen to 節目重溫 of 3 Monkeys and of Pong Pong.
mpe : thank you for your info. as I like to place the radio beside my bed at night time therefore it would be better for CCB to repeat those
worth-listening programmes thru their radio.
Joe, Pong & Maggie you guys are doing very good . With those up-to-date news really up grade our knowledge . Thank you for not bringing those rubbish info. like : expensive travel ; red wine & stupid games etc. Thank you for not treating us like dumbles. keep up with the GOOD WORK !!! I like CCB !!!

The days without Mary Yeung, programs are more interesting.
Who can tell me where is : Ms River Lee of FM88.9 ? Used to be on the morning show from 7:30-10:30am.
( M-F) After Mr. Lui joined the show, Mr. Beckham & Ms River disappeared one after the other. Any reason ?
However, after 10:00am I switch to CCB for Mr. Kwan & Ka Ho’s programme for it is more educational & knowledgeable for my ownself. I learn more from them – spiritual & personal. Thank you CCB for your everyday’s improved programmes !!!

In an interview with Ming Pao (July 1, 2008 issue page D1 refers), Simon mentioned that he is going to join a main stream media soon. In the light of this, does it mean that WOW TV will be on air soon.
The following info I would share with you. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
1. Ng Shui Chun will in charge of the News Dept.
2. Joe will in charge of the Programmes Dept.
3. Simon & Dr So will host a programme Monday to Friday.
