Dark Humour?:

  1. The smallest bookstore still contains more ideas of worth than have been presented in the entire history of television." – Andrew Ross

Devotion is like the candle which Michelangelo used to take in his pasteboard cap, so as not to throw his shadow upon the work in which he was engaged. – Phillips Brooks

And I salute Mr. Law for his devotion to his bookstore.

  3. it’s really sad as HK has almost no book stores (other than textbooks stores)!!

This is a warning to all those singles living alone that from time to time you have friends call you to make sure you’re fine. If he had someone call him the night he fell down, perhaps he would have been saved. I guess a 14-day period is too long a period not to be contacted particularly in HK!!

  6. Yes, this black humorous incident is such a metaphor and irony that underscores the notoriety of 香港’s “文化沙漠" label – Books (and thus literacy) in 香港 are now used mainly for killing (as in attacking other scholars), but not for their intended purpose of “betterment and transfer of knowledge".

R.I.P. (finally, after 14 days)

P.S.: Certainly, 羅志華先生 is not the first victim who got killed by probably the only thing he held near and dear to his heart, Ching Cheung also got killed, literally speaking, by the same government he once loved so much and to which he had devoted almost half of his career. The only difference between them is that 羅志華先生 is now physically dead, but Ching Cheung’s love of his country has long gone kaput!
