Yes, Tsui’s mother has no obligation to apologize. However, if she really loves her son, she should make apologies to the victims’families on behalf of her son. Tsui was dead. He couldn’t say sorry to the victims and their families even if he wanted to. Who will be the most suitable person(s) to help him? The answer is obvious–his mother and wife.
To apologize on her son’s behalf doesn’t mean it is her fault. This will only show how deep she loves him by helping him to mitigate his sin. Didn’t we see the family members of the gunman of the recent campus massacre in U.S. made apologies to the victims and their families? Did anyone think that it was the fault of the gunman’s family members? It was even not the fault of the gunman. He was insane. His family made apology because they loved him.
I think everybody is a victim in this case including Tsui’s mum, wife & daughter. The HK Govt./Police Dept should apologize because they didn’t realize that their employee had mental problem let alone providing counselling service. I’ve no doublt in my mind that Tsui is a brilliant person but the rigid system & red tape in the Police Dept failed him. Unfortunately, Tsui didn’t have the wisdom to deal with this sort of situation, he developed hatred & jealousy. Tsui’s dead already, his karma will take of his future. So instead of putting blame upon someone, we should have compassion on all victims.
