    1. 她說安於退休的生活, 她看來珍惜羽毛, 不會冒稍為大的風險;
    2. 她對民主的訴求, 也不見得是如何的堅強, 退縮或說不上, 但折衷或忍讓的方案她可能會接受;
    3. 她說她在現階段無慾無求. 除非改變這種心態, 她不可能成為在香港爭取民主的運動中的領袖. 一個無慾無求的政治領袖如何能站得穏, 如何和對手周旋.作一精神領袖, 她又似乎未達那個級數 (她沒有為民主運動有任何實質的犠牲, 讚譽卻已得到了).
    我們在香港爭取民主的過程中, 到目前為止, 似乎不能對陳太期望過高.

    At the present stage, the most remarkable contribution Mrs. Anson Chan can make to the progress of Hong Kong Democracy is to proclaim she, as a retired top official of Hong Kong Government, supports Hong Kong to take a faster pace for democracy, including double general elections in the year of 2012. The impressions of Hong Kong citizens on officials of high level of the government are capable, shrewd and with proficient knowledge. Retired officials’ taking initiatives to push a social movement will surely be more effective than the actions by people with other backgrounds. Mrs. Chan is astute. Her judgments on her present situation and Hong Kong political environment are precise. She is now doing this task while holding what she has already acquired, like high social status and leisured and carefree retired life etc., at the same time. I hope that she, as a retired head of civil servants of Hong Kong Government, can motivate retired civil servants to participate in the development of Hong Kong Democracy. Unfortunately, it seems that she hasn’t shown much effort in this aspect of actions. If she is willingly to spend more time and give more effort for Hong Kong Democracy, she can take a more active role as a retired head of civil servants to urge all the other retired civil servants to join her to form a powerful force to facilitate the movement of Hong Kong Democracy. Her first targets are surely her good friends like Mrs. Yum of her so-called ‘Handbag Party’.
